Bill of Materials

A Bill of Materials (BOM) is a list of information which includes raw materials, asset parts, documents and any other components needed for the manufacturing process of a product. It is a critical procedure as it provides extensive detail for each asset such as:

  • Part number. Unique identification for each material.
  • Description. Brief description of each material.
  • Quantity. Amount of each material.
  • Unit of Measure. Unit in which the material is stated (pieces, metres etc).
  • Supplier Information. Details on sources of each material.
  • Assembly Instructions. Guidelines on application of each part if applicable.
  • Cost Information. Cost amount of each material.
