A Bill of Materials (BOM) is a list of information which includes raw materials, asset parts, documents and any other components needed for the manufacturing process of a product. It is a critical procedure as it provides extensive detail for each asset such as:
- Part number. Unique identification for each material.
- Description. Brief description of each material.
- Quantity. Amount of each material.
- Unit of Measure. Unit in which the material is stated (pieces, metres etc).
- Supplier Information. Details on sources of each material.
- Assembly Instructions. Guidelines on application of each part if applicable.
- Cost Information. Cost amount of each material.
